Buhle's vision for The Slice Delights extends beyond creating beautiful cakes.
Over the next five years, she aims to build a more established and sustainable cake business with a dedicated space, a growing team and systems that allow the studio to serve more customers without compromising quality or personal service.
She sees significant opportunity in wedding cakes, larger events and bespoke celebration cakes, while building a reputation for quality, reliability and exceptional customer experiences.
And there's a personal ambition behind that growth too.
A business that once helped a student pay part of her university fees could one day create employment, teach valuable skills and give other people an opportunity to earn an income.
That's the kind of growth worth building.
From a student side-hustle to a growing cake studio in Randburg, Gauteng.
The Slice Delights started with something simple: a student who needed to make an income. While studying at university, Buhle began baking and taking cake orders to help cover her expenses.
What started as a practical way to support herself soon became something much bigger. The income from those early cakes even helped contribute towards her university fees.
There was no grand business plan at the beginning. Buhle started with what she had, what she knew and what she could create. Then something happened. People kept ordering.
They came back. They referred their friends and families. They trusted her with birthdays, milestones and increasingly important celebrations. As the customers grew, so did the cakes, the skills and the business itself.
Along the way, Buhle discovered that she didn't just enjoy baking, she enjoyed building a business. She valued making her own decisions, developing relationships with clients and creating something that belonged to her.
That mindset continues to shape The Slice Delights today.
What began as a student's way of earning an income has grown into a bespoke cake studio in Randburg, Gauteng, with ambitions to serve larger celebrations, weddings and events while maintaining the personal touch that built the business in the first place.
