Terms of Service

The Slice Delights
Effective date: 20 October 2026

1. Introduction

Welcome to The Slice Delights.

We create bespoke cakes and sweet creations for weddings, birthdays, milestone celebrations, corporate events and other special occasions. Every order is prepared with care and attention to the customer's requirements.

These Terms and Conditions explain how our ordering process works, what we require from customers, and what customers can expect from us.

By accepting a quotation, paying a deposit or making payment for an order, you acknowledge that you have read and accepted these Terms and Conditions.

For the purposes of this document, The Slice Delights may be referred to as "we", "us" or "our". The person placing an order may be referred to as "you" or "the customer".

2. Quotations and Order Confirmation

All orders are subject to availability, production capacity and confirmation by The Slice Delights.

A quotation will be prepared according to the information supplied by the customer, including the requested design, size, number of servings, flavours, decorations, collection or delivery arrangements, and any additional services.

Unless otherwise stated, quotations are valid for the period indicated on the quotation document. An order is considered confirmed once the customer has accepted the quotation in writing and the required deposit or full payment has been received.A request for a quotation does not reserve a date or guarantee availability.

We reserve the right to decline an order where we cannot reasonably accommodate the requested design, schedule, delivery arrangements or other requirements.

3. Pricing and Payment

3.1 Deposit

A deposit of 50% of the quoted order value is required to confirm an order.

The deposit secures the booking and allows us to allocate production time, plan the work and begin making the necessary arrangements.

The deposit is non refundable to the extent permitted by applicable law and subject to the cancellation and refund provisions in this document.

3.2 Outstanding Balance

The remaining 50% of the order value is payable no later than delivery or collection, unless a different arrangement has been agreed to in writing.

Where an invoice is issued, payment is due within three calendar days of the invoice date, unless the invoice specifies another payment deadline.

An invoice payment deadline does not override the requirement for full upfront payment for orders placed within three calendar days of the collection or delivery date.

3.3 Short Notice Orders

Orders placed within three calendar days of the agreed collection or delivery date require full payment upfront.

Short notice orders are accepted only where production capacity allows.

3.4 Late or Outstanding Payments

We may suspend work, withhold collection or delivery, or decline to proceed with an order where the required payment has not been received by the agreed deadline, subject to applicable law and the circumstances of the order.

Any delay caused by outstanding payment may affect the agreed collection or delivery time.

Where a payment delay affects our ability to complete an order, we will communicate with the customer as soon as reasonably possible.

3.5 Additional Charges

Any agreed changes, additional decorations, revised specifications, delivery changes or additional services that affect the quoted price will be communicated to the customer before the additional work is undertaken.

Additional charges must be accepted by the customer before the additional work proceeds.

4. Bespoke Designs and Customisation

Every bespoke cake is created according to the agreed design, specifications and quotation.

Customers are responsible for reviewing the quotation, design references, wording, spelling, dates, colours and other details supplied or approved before production begins.

Once an order has been confirmed, design changes may incur additional costs.

Changes may also affect production time, ingredient requirements, collection arrangements or delivery schedules.

We will advise the customer of any additional costs or practical limitations before proceeding with a requested change.

Changes cannot be guaranteed once production has started or where the remaining time does not reasonably allow them to be completed.

4.1 Reference Images and Inspiration

Customers may provide photographs, sketches, colour palettes or other references to communicate their preferred design.

These references guide the creative process but do not guarantee an exact replica. Differences may arise because of the handmade nature of our products, available materials, seasonal flowers, ingredient characteristics and practical design requirements.

We will make reasonable efforts to achieve the agreed overall design and finish.

4.2 Handmade Variations

Our cakes are handmade products. Minor variations in colour, texture, decoration, proportions and finishing may occur.

Such variations do not automatically constitute a defect, provided the cake remains reasonably consistent with the agreed specifications and description.

This provision does not exclude responsibility for material differences, poor workmanship or failure to meet applicable consumer protection requirements.

4.3 Customer Supplied Materials

Where a customer supplies decorations, toppers, photographs, wording or other materials, we are not responsible for defects inherent in those materials. We may decline to use materials that are unsuitable, unsafe or incompatible with the cake.

5. Ingredients, Allergies and Dietary Requirements

Customers must inform us of any known allergies, dietary restrictions or ingredient requirements before confirming an order.

We will communicate relevant ingredient information and advise customers where a requested requirement cannot be accommodated.Although we take reasonable precautions when preparing our products, our working environment may involve ingredients associated with common food allergies.

We cannot guarantee the complete absence of allergens or cross contact unless this has been specifically confirmed in writing.Customers must not assume that a cake is suitable for a particular allergy or dietary requirement without receiving confirmation from us.

The customer is responsible for communicating any relevant allergy information to the person receiving or consuming the cake.

6. Collection and Delivery

Collection and delivery arrangements will be agreed upon when the order is confirmed.

Customers must ensure that the collection address, delivery address, contact details, date and time are accurate.

Delivery availability, fees and conditions depend on the location, size, shape, weight, structure and handling requirements of the cake.Delivery fees, setup fees, travel charges or other agreed costs will be communicated before the order is confirmed or before the relevant additional service is accepted.

Some cakes require specialist transport, additional handling, installation or setup. These requirements may affect the final quotation.Full delivery terms are set out in our Delivery Policy.

7. Customer Responsibilities After Collection or Delivery

Once a cake has been handed over to the customer or an authorised recipient, the customer is responsible for following the storage, handling and serving instructions provided by The Slice Delights.Cakes must be transported, stored and displayed under appropriate conditions.

We cannot accept responsibility for damage caused by improper handling, unsuitable storage, exposure to excessive heat, movement during transport arranged by the customer, or failure to follow our instructions after handover.

Where we arrange delivery, we remain responsible for taking reasonable care during transport and handover.

Any visible damage, incorrect order details or other concerns should be reported as soon as reasonably possible.Nothing in this section limits any rights the customer may have under applicable law.

8. Cancellations, Refunds and Changes to Orders

Cancellations, refund requests and changes to confirmed orders are handled according to our Refund Policy.

Customers should submit cancellation requests in writing and retain confirmation of the request.

A cancellation may result in charges for work already completed, ingredients or materials purchased, and other reasonable costs incurred in preparing the order, subject to applicable law.Deposits and payments will be handled in accordance with the applicable policy and the customer's legal rights.

9. Delays and Circumstances Beyond Our Control

We make reasonable efforts to complete orders according to the agreed schedule. However, circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including severe weather, road closures, accidents, utility interruptions, supplier failures, emergencies or other unforeseen events, may affect production or delivery.

Where such circumstances arise, we will notify the customer as soon as reasonably possible and discuss practical alternatives.

This provision does not automatically excuse a failure to meet our legal obligations or remove any remedies available to the customer under applicable law.

10. Product Photographs and Marketing

We reserve the right to photograph completed cakes for our portfolio, website and marketing materials.

Where a customer prefers that their cake or event not be used for promotional purposes, they should inform us in writing before the event.

We will respect reasonable privacy requests and will not knowingly publish a customer's private personal information without an appropriate lawful basis.

11. Communication and Written Agreements

Important order details, approvals, changes, cancellations and complaints should be communicated in writing through our designated business communication channels.

Written communication helps both parties maintain an accurate record of the agreed requirements.Where a verbal discussion changes an existing agreement, the change should be confirmed in writing.

The final accepted quotation, together with any subsequent written amendments, forms part of the agreement between the customer and The Slice Delights.

12. Consumer Rights and Applicable Law

These Terms and Conditions are governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa.

Nothing in these Terms and Conditions is intended to waive, restrict or exclude a right or remedy that cannot lawfully be waived, restricted or excluded.Where a provision conflicts with applicable law, the law will take precedence over that provision.
