Delivery And Collections Policy
The Slice Delights
Effective date: 20 October 2026
1. Delivering Your Cake
At The Slice Delights, we understand that your cake is more than a dessert. It is part of a moment you have planned and looked forward to.
We take reasonable care to ensure that each order is prepared, handled and delivered according to its requirements. Because our cakes differ in size, shape, weight, structure, decoration and complexity, delivery arrangements are assessed individually.
Not every cake can be transported using the same method, vehicle, packaging or handling procedure.
2. Delivery Availability
Delivery is available by prior arrangement, subject to the location, date, size and design of the cake, and our delivery capacity
.We are based in Randburg, Gauteng. Delivery to surrounding areas may be available depending on the order and destination.
The delivery fee will depend on factors such as:
- The delivery address and distance from our operating location.
- The size, height, weight and structure of the cake.
- The packaging and transport requirements.
- Whether additional handling or specialist equipment is required.
- The delivery time and any venue access restrictions.
- Whether setup or installation is required at the destination.
The applicable delivery fee will be communicated before the order is confirmed or before any additional delivery service is accepted.
A delivery request does not constitute confirmation until the arrangements have been agreed in writing.
3. Cake Size, Structure and Transport
Some cakes are more delicate than others.
Tall cakes, multi tiered wedding cakes, sculpted designs, cakes with delicate decorations and cakes with unusual shapes may require specialist handling, additional packaging, a suitable vehicle or transport in separate sections.
Where appropriate, a cake may need to be assembled or finished at the venue.
We will assess the design and advise the customer of any special transport, delivery or setup requirements before confirming the final arrangements.
Additional costs may apply where the requested design requires specialist transport, extra handling or installation.
We reserve the right to decline a delivery arrangement where we reasonably believe the proposed method would place the cake, the delivery team or other people at an unacceptable risk.
Where a different arrangement is needed, we will discuss the available options with the customer.
4. Delivery Addresses and Access
Customers must provide a complete and accurate delivery address, a contact number and any relevant access instructions.
For venue deliveries, customers should provide the venue name, entrance or loading instructions, contact person and any applicable delivery restrictions.
Customers are responsible for confirming that the venue can receive the delivery at the agreed time.
Any restrictions involving stairs, lifts, security access, parking, loading zones, restricted delivery hours or difficult access should be communicated before the delivery is confirmed.
Where access requirements were not disclosed and they materially affect the delivery arrangements, additional charges or a revised delivery plan may be necessary.
We will communicate any proposed additional charges before proceeding where reasonably practicable.
5. Delivery Times
Delivery times are agreed in advance.
We make reasonable efforts to deliver within the agreed time window, taking into account traffic, weather, road conditions, venue access and the practical requirements of transporting a delicate product.
Customers should allow sufficient time for venue access, setup and any other arrangements required before the event begins.
Where an event has a fixed start time, the customer should communicate this when placing the order.
Although we plan deliveries carefully, an exact arrival time cannot always be guaranteed where circumstances beyond our reasonable control intervene.
If we become aware of a material delay, we will notify the customer as soon as reasonably possible.
6. Setup and Installation
Delivery and setup are separate services unless the quotation expressly states otherwise.
Where setup is required, the quotation will specify the agreed service and any associated charges.
Setup may include placing the cake at the designated location, assembling approved components, positioning decorations supplied by us or completing agreed finishing touches.
Customers must ensure that the designated setup area is suitable, stable, clean and ready for the cake.
The venue must provide any access, permissions, equipment or facilities that have been agreed as the customer's responsibility.
We are not responsible for delays caused by an unavailable setup area, restricted venue access or facilities that have not been made available as agreed.
Where setup cannot be completed safely or as planned, we will discuss the available options with the customer.
7. Collection
Customers who choose collection must arrive at the agreed collection time and ensure that an appropriate person is available to receive the order.
The customer should inform us in advance if someone else will collect the cake on their behalf.
We will provide relevant handling, transport and storage instructions at collection.
Customers must ensure that their vehicle has sufficient space and is suitable for transporting the cake safely.
Where a cake requires a flat, stable surface, suitable temperature conditions or other special precautions, these requirements must be followed.
We may advise against customer collection for particularly delicate or structurally complex cakes. Where collection is nevertheless agreed, we will explain the relevant handling requirements before handover.
8. Responsibility After Handover
Once a cake has been handed over to the customer or an authorised recipient, the customer is responsible for following the handling, transport and storage instructions provided by The Slice Delights.
We cannot accept responsibility for damage caused after handover by improper transport, movement, storage, exposure to excessive heat or other handling outside our control.
Where delivery and setup are provided by us, we remain responsible for taking reasonable care until the agreed handover or completion of the service.
Nothing in this section excludes responsibility for damage or defects for which we remain legally responsible.
9. Failed Delivery or Delayed Collection
Customers must ensure that someone is available to receive the cake at the agreed delivery time and that collection takes place at the agreed time.
If delivery cannot be completed because the customer supplied an incorrect address, nobody is available to receive the cake, venue access is unavailable or agreed delivery requirements have not been met, we will contact the customer to discuss the available options.
A second delivery attempt, waiting time, additional travel or a revised delivery arrangement may incur an additional charge.
Any additional charge will be communicated to the customer and must be reasonable in the circumstances.
Where the customer does not collect an order at the agreed time, we will make reasonable efforts to contact them and arrange an alternative where practical.
Because cakes are perishable, we cannot guarantee that a delayed collection or delivery can be accommodated without affecting the product or the event schedule.
Any cancellation, refund or additional charge arising from a failed delivery will be assessed in accordance with the agreed order terms and applicable law.
10. Venue Conditions and Environmental Factors
Customers must inform us of relevant venue conditions that may affect the cake, including outdoor placement, direct sunlight, high temperatures, uneven surfaces or limited refrigeration.
Some designs and ingredients are particularly sensitive to heat, humidity, movement and extended display times.
We may recommend a different placement, display method or design where environmental conditions could compromise the cake.
Where a customer requests a setup that we reasonably believe is unsuitable, we will explain the concern and discuss alternatives.
11. Delivery Complaints
If a cake arrives damaged or there is a concern about the delivery service, please contact us as soon as reasonably possible.
Photographs of the cake, packaging and any visible damage can help us assess what happened.
Please avoid altering or disposing of relevant evidence before contacting us where it is safe and practical to retain it.
Food safety concerns should be reported immediately.
We will assess the circumstances fairly and determine the appropriate next steps in accordance with the agreed order and applicable law.
12. Contact Us
